New Blog
This will be the last blog post on here. Feel free to poke around the archives for some of the neat things I've been a part of over the past few years. Starting now, new blog entries will be posted at Daryl Time. Cheers =)

Fire Tetris - Burning Man 2015
Last weekend in Montreal there was a really fun event (I got to DJ there, which was a blast in itself) to raise money for one of the coolest projects I've ever heard of: Fire Tetris, a 27' fully playable tetris game made of 200 pixels of pure FIRE.
I was behind on updating this space (so no heads up about the event, alas) but to recap: there were fire performaces, hoopers, great DJ's, a tetris tournament, and a good chunk of change was raised. Fire Tetris has already received a grant from the Burning Man organization to bring their project to the Playa, but this thing's going to be pretty expensive, so more money is still needed! A Kickstarter project should be launched soon, I'll link to that once it is.
To get an idea of just how awesome Fire Tetris in going to be, look at this digital mockup video:

More info at firetetris.com.
We were all happy to continue the fun the next day as Les Brûleurs de Montréal took over DJ duties at the Gazebo on the Mountain (which, sadly, may no longer be a thing after this weekend...). Here I am in my element on that fine Sunday Funday:
It looks unlikely that I'll go to Burning Man myself this year, but there's going to be a great crew on Montrealers there - and if you go, be sure to check out the Fire Tetris installation!
Update: the Kickstarter Campaign is LIVE: Learn more and donate here.

Boogie Buttons Winter 2015
I was feeling inspired to make a new mix today, so I did! This one's a little more uptempo than some of my recent ones. Anywho, enjoy:

January Tune Scoop 2015
So I've been doing this thing lately where I like to put my entire iTunes collection on shuffle and just see what happens. Then, I'll make a playlist of faves that come up and save them as "cool things I heard this month"-style archives. I've been having so much fun doing this (the breadth and wealth of music buried deep in my library, some of which would never make it to my ears without the shuffle function, regularly boggles my mind) that I thought it would be fun to start doing an occasional mix series, which I'll call my "tune scoops" for any given period of time.
And so, I present the first such mix, my January Tune Scoop 2015. I'll plan on doing more of these as the mood strikes me. This one has got some jazz, folk and other good things. Hope you like it =)

Corse: Cytochrome
I'm pleased to announce the arrival of some new music from Corse: Cytochrome is a 3-track EP we recorded a good while back but only just now got around to releasing. I would say it's some of the coolest stuff we've ever recorded. Check out the stream from Bandcamp below, courtesy of Samizdat Records:

Evelyne
Evelyne, a really cool animated short film by Rebecca St. John, for which I helped with the sound design, is now online.
About the film:
"Evelyne is a psychological portrait. Her story of memory and loss is told through puppet animation."
Evelyne will also be screening as part of Les Sommets du cinéma d’animation on December 5th and 6th.
